Mission
Recognizing the pluralistic, frequently contested character of American life, the American Philosophies Forum aims: 1) to contribute to the critical development, imaginative growth, and shared understanding of American philosophical traditions;
and, 2) to bring the resources of these multiple philosophies to bear on the reconstruction of contemporary culture and the amelioration of its problems.
Activities
To accomplish these two goals, the American Philosophies Forum sponsors two corresponding activities: 1) a small institute and a larger symposium (in alternating years) for scholars of American thought and culture, as well as publications resulting from these meetings; and, 2) a bi-annual conference (with workshops and policy sessions) that brings scholars and theorists together with government, business, educational, media, science, arts, non-profit, and other local, national, and trans-national community leaders and practitioners.
